Closing date for application 15 December 2017
Course Content
This is a hands-on practical training course that combines lectures and laboratory exercises on chemical and biological methods currently used to detect chemical pollutants in the air, water and soil, and to detect their biological effects on organs or important changes in the health of people exposed to these environmental chemicals. The course covers theoretical aspects of toxicology, various techniques/analytical methods involved in detection of selected environmental pollutants, the use of various biomarkers to monitor human exposure and effects, as well as testing and screening of toxicity.
Objectives
• To enhance participants’ knowledge in the technology and methods used in the detection of environmental pollutants and monitoring of health effects
• To enable participants to keep abreast with current developments in technology and the methodology employed in detection of environmental pollutants and monitoring of health effects
Course Outline
