Strengthening Bilateral Relation Viet Nam – Russia

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong left Hanoi in September 5, 2018, starting his official visit to Russia at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.The Party Chief was accompanied by a delegation of high ranking Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Leaders of relevant Ministries.


 

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong spoke highly of the comprehensive achievements that Russia has gained over the past, as well as its important position in the global arena. Meanwhile, President Putin affirmed that Russia has always held Vietnam in high regards as a leading partner in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the comprehensive development in the bilateral relations over the past time. The sound traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia has stood the test of time and been nurtured by several generations of leaders and peoples. Such valuable property should be maintained and promoted, they said.

 

Amid the friendly atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding, the two sides focused discussion on major measures to create new momentum for bilateral cooperation in all fields.

 

They agreed to exert maximum efforts to develop the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in a deeper and more effective manner.

The two leaders together decided to maintain high-level delegation exchanges, political consultations, and strategic dialogues across all channels – including the Party, Government, parliament, agencies, ministries, departments, and localities.

They agreed to reinforce political trust as a foundation to boost and expand all-around collaboration.

 

Within the framework of the ongoing visit to Russia, under the witness of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vit Nam (CPV)’s Central Committee Nguyn Phú Trng and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Assoc. Prof. Pham Le Tuan, Vice Minister of Health and Dr. A.Yu Popova, Director of Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing - Rospotrebnadzor (the Russian Federation) signed the Agreement on cooperation in the field of ensuring epidemiology and well-being of the population of Viet Nam. This was the framework for further development and bilateral cooperation in the health care sector in general and  food safety, preventive medicine and epidemiology in particular.

 

The close collaboration in the health care sector actively contributes to the overall historical links and friendship between Viet Nam and Russia.​
