H.E. Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien Participated in the Universal Health Coverage Forum.

At the invitation of the Governement of Japan, and the World Bank, with the agreeemnt of the Viet Nam Prime Minister, on December 11, 2017, H.E. Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien set out for Japan to participate in the Universal Health Covering Forum (Universal Health Coverage - UHC).


 

The Forum, hosted by the Government of Japan, the World Bank, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the UHC2030 Initiative, was held from 12-15 December 2017 at the Tokyo Prince Hotel, Tokyo.

Attending the forum were more than 300 high-level policy-makers, including the Heads of State, Health Ministers and Finance Ministers, representatives from the Ministries of Health and Finance from low- and middle-income countries, experts from bi- and multi-lateral institutions, civil society organizations, academic institution and the private sector.

The Viet Nam delegation included H.E. Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Associate Professor. Dr. Tran Thi Giang Huong, Director of International Cooperation Department, Mr. Pham Minh Thao, Deputy General of Vietnam Health Insurance. The forum's agenda consisted of high-level discussions, ministerial-level discussions, civil society organizations and partner side events.


In particular, Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien was invited as one of panelists of the discussion on Increasing Resilience of Health Systems: Integrating pandemic preparedness with strengthening health systems towards UHC. At the forum, the Minister had bilateral meetings with important international policymakers to discuss bilateral cooperation issues, such as H.E. Mr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesushanom, Director General of the World Health Organization, H.E. Mr. Katsunobu Katō, Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan, Senator Keizo Takemi, Mr. Timothy Evans, Senior Director of the Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice at the World Bank Group.

In additional to official programs, the Minister visited Rehabilitation center, Primary healthcare center of Kitahara Hospital in Japan to exchange views and experience about primary health care.

On 15/12/2017, H.E. Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and the delegation set off to Ha Noi successfully completed the trip to Japan.
